This has been floating around the "internets" for at least a month now, but I've yet to see it posted here, so I figured, why not?
It could be an actual image... a doctored image... concept art... fan art... or just a figment of my imagination, but check it out.

3:45 pm - Mod post: About the forum
|

As you all may(or may not) know, we've been having big time problems with the forums. It all started when the user gallery started going haywire. A new one was created(with up-to-date files) and everything was fine. Then the forum went haywire and the font was huge and people had trouble logging in and loading it and some of the admins couldn't even log in and when they could, they couldn't access the Admin control panel to fix the font issues and other things. Then the screencaps gallery started going crazy just like the user gallery.
We found out that there was some sort of security flaw in the version of Coppermine we had for the galleries. (Coppermine released two updates after this happened to address the security flaws, but it was too late for us)
Anyways, over the weekend we have been frantically trying to fix everything. We've deleted the screencaps gallery in hopes that that might help. It didn't. We tried replacing files that would have been infected in hopes that that might help. It didn't. We've tried restoring the database from an earlier backup in hopes that might help. It didn't. We've tried everything we could think of and in every combination. Nothing worked.
So, we're trying a clean install of the forum and try to restore the important things like the member list and all the topics and posts. Hopefully that will work and posting at the forum can resume soon.
PS if you talk to anyone who is also a member of the forums, please point them in the direction of this post so that they know what's going on!
EDIT: so restoring the member list and posts and topics didn't work. Everything is new again. Everyone must re-register.

In case you haven't noticed, the Collective forum is down at the moment due to issues with our host. Hopefully it should be resolved soon. In the mean, you can visit the Tim Burton forum on one of the Collective's sister sites, Imaginary Cinema.

RIght.. THis is probably is asilly question. I like tim burton a lot, but I'm not as well versed as some might be. I am looking to make a wedding present for someone. I had this idea that involved something I saw once that I think was a tim burton drawing. It was of a red heart and if I remember corectly it might have had black swirls in the heart as well. I'm sure I've seen note books with this printed on it. Anyway, I cannot find a picture of this heart anywhere. Does this sound familiar to anyne? If so, can you send me a link to a picture. It would help me make the best wedding present ever for a huge Tim Burton Fan! Thanks!

Okay, did anyone watch [adult swim] last night at 11:00 when Pee-wee's Playhouse was SUPPOSED to come on? But it didn't! Futurama came on again, instead! This doesn't mean they're getting rid of Pee-wee's Playhouse already, does it? They can't!

Just got from Torrentz the soundtrack of Tim Burton's EDWARD SCISSORHANDS by the great Danny Elfman which is just marvelous. I think this score just makes Mr. Elfman rock.
The actor Vincent Price played Edward's inventor who gave him a cookie heart (or a heart-shaped cookie) and died before giving him real hands to replace his scissor hands... Vincent Price is the actor the character Vincent Malloy admires in Burton's animated short VINCENT... to quote... Vincent Malloy is seven years old, He’s always polite and does what he’s told. For a boy his age he’s considerate and nice, But he wants to be just like Vincent Price. ...& Vincent Price narrated the poem on the animated short film.
...and so I thought things couldn't get any better. I got THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS Soundtrack... which is just the best, an absolute thrill and a trick. Danny Elfman rules again with his songs and score. How about a West End musical there dear old chap? Great score and montages. I think this movie is like Burton's pinnacle of creative genius by which he wasn't on the director's chair. True enough that our greatest work could not be fully credited to us. Thus a mere chair would't fit the force behind such work.
With the soundtrack came a fantastic treat. Patrick Stewart voiced for Santa did the opening and closing (which is not in the movie) for the soundtrack... it began with something like this... 'Twas a long time ago, longer now than it seems in a place perhaps you've seen in your dreams. For the story you're about to be told began with the holiday worlds of auld. Now you've probably wondered where holidays come from. If you haven't I'd say it's time you begun. ...and the movie started, and now some more form the soundtrack...
For holidays are the result of much fuss And hard work for the worlds that create them for us. Well, you see now, quite simply that's all that they do Making one unique holiday, especially for you. But once, a calamity ever so great occurred When two holidays met by mistake.
and from the closing...
And finally, everything worked out just fine. Christmas was saved, though there wasn't much time. But after that night, things were never the same-- Each holiday now knew the other one's name.
And though that one Christmas things got out of hand, I'm still rather fond of that skeleton man.
So, many years later I thought I'd drop in, And there was old Jack still looking quite thin, With four or five skeleton children at hand Playing strange little tunes in their xylophone band.
And I asked old Jack, "Do you remember the night When the sky was so dark and the moon shone so bright? When a million small children pretending to sleep Nearly didn't have Christmas at all, so to speak? And would, if you could, turn that mighty clock back, To that long, fateful night. Now, think carefully, Jack. Would you do the whole thing all over again, Knowing what you know now, knowing what you knew then?"
And he smiled, like the old pumpkin king that I knew, Then turned and asked softly of me, "Wouldn't you?"
lyrics from TNBC lyrics
Tim Burton poems is sheer delight. His rhyme is simple and pretty. The story revelling and eventful. You just fall for it. Which is quite wonderful to put such a poem into the first stop animation film. Love the soundtrack. Thanks Mr. Elfman. Thank you Mr. Burton. Here is the copy of of the original poem which I couldn't get enought reading again and again... posted this for the third time on a blog... and the next one is a copy of Vincent...
One day I'll get me a copy of The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories... that would be nice. I am posting this blog on the TBCOLLECTIVE.

2:07 pm - Collective Wallpaper competition!
|

extemporangle
|
There is a topic in the forums(you have to be a member and signed in to see the topic though) about this competition, but maybe some people in this community don't keep up with the forums much? I don't know, but I thought I'd post about it here.
So here's the basics of it(as posted by forum member Oz Rembrandt):
Ladies, Gentlemen, Quadrapeds of all ages! My plan has finally come to fruition. This is YOUR chance to express your artistic side and help the Collective!
What I'm asking your for, is help with This! "Tim Burton Themed Wallpapers - Coming Soon"
So, what I'm asking you to do is quite simple! If you feel artsy enough to undertake the task, I want people to submit 3 seperate wallpapers, one of the following catagories:
Tim Burton Danny Elfman Johnny Depp Vincent Frankenweenie Pee Wee's Big Adventure Beetlejuice Batman Edward Scissorhands Batman Returns The Nightmare Before Christmas Ed Wood Mars Attacks! Sleepy Hollow Planet of the Apes Big Fish Charlie and the Chocolate Factory The Corpse Bride
PLEASE SUBMIT 3 DIFFERENT WALLPAPERS. Entries consisting of 3 wallpapers from the same theme/movie will be fed to the Minions.
ENTRIES MUST SHOW WWW.TIMBURTONCOLLECTIVE.COM / WWW.INDEPPTH.COM ON THEM (Indeppth for Johnny Depp papers only).
Once we have a substantial amount of wallpapers at our disposal, the entries will be closed, and the best ones selected. If we still feel we have too many, it may go through to a poll.
What are you waiting for Artisans? Go!!
You can post your submissions in that topic or PM them to any of the Minions or Webmasters if you're a member of the forums. You can also email your submissions to collectivecontest@gmail.com if you're not a member of the forums(but we encourage people to join because the forums are so gosh darn fun).
Thank you, Mel/Pierrot Somepeople
